Our Kitchen

This morning I'm sitting in my kitchen drinking coffee, paying bills, catching up on emails, and listening to music and I'm loving it!!!  I have many thoughts going through my head in the last couple of weeks so thought I would put a few of them down on paper.  I almost think the end of the remodel is the hardest.... the workers are gone and now it's left to us to put it back together.  It's not like TV where the owners walk in and everything is back in place. :)  Many of you have followed along with our kitchen project the last several months so I thought I would do one big post on the before and after.... we have come a long way.   I'm so grateful for the people who have asked how it is going, what we are finding to eat, and how we are doing.    We still have a few things to put back, pictures to hang, curtains to find (make?), and the sense to feel settled back in, but that will come with time.
They say remodels are stressful and that the kitchen is the worst.  Overall I feel we did fairly well.  As someone who likes order, plans, and tidiness this has stretched me.  It has gone very well and I've learned how adaptable we can be.
Going into this I (we) wanted to have a perfect end product.  We spent lots of times working on the design, features, etc that we wanted while trying to be mindful of budget, cost, etc.  This was the hardest task.  I kept saying it's a '57 Bloomington Rambler.. it has to go.  I also realized that it will never look like the catalogs, blogs I look at... I want it to feel lived in and ours.  It may not be perfect according to all design elements, but it's ours.
We are truly blessed to have done this project and I want to share it with others.  Pray that I will be a gracious host, humble, and relaxed about using this space (dings will come!)
