A couple weeks ago I was packing away the Christmas decorations and putting ornaments back in their boxes. I have a Svorski crystal ornament that was given to us by a 2nd cousin and is very special. When I went to pick up the box out came a tiny booklet on the background of the crystal. Amelia saw it and remarked.. "Look a tiny bible" I explained that no it was a booklet about the ornament, but she could not be convinced and kept referring to it as a "tiny bible." She would carry it around and read to me from it. You could hear her saying "Jesus is the light to that world." and "Jesus loves me." One day after playing downstairs we could not find the tiny bible. Amelia was devastated. I looked everywhere and could not find it. I tried to give her a gideon bible she used to read, but nothing could replace her "tiny bible." Last week she changed into a pair of jeans in her drawer and put her hands in her pocket and out came her "tiny bible." Boy was she excited. Tiny bible has now become a fixture again in our days. It has now required some taping to keep it together and a careful eye of where it is set down. Today I got thinking of what a great lesson this is for me and my bible... Do I get excited to read it every day and to others? Do I become upset when it is lost or forgotten at church? Does it get so worn from reading/study that it requires taping? Just some good lessons to think about.
Someday I'm sure Amelia will look at her tiny bible and laugh that it is a really a booklet about crystals, but I hope she has developed a love of reading God's word and sharing it with others.
