We had Friday, Saturday and Sunday to enjoy Decorah and a weekend away. We enjoyed viewing the downtown shops (many Scandinavian ones) and taking in the Northeastern Iowa Studio art tour (artist open up their homes/studios to view their artwork). We also visited Seed Savers Farm.... a large farm with heirloom seeds (you can reuse them). We have planned to start a small garden next year so we were excited to purchase some seeds. There was also hiking trails and an orchard so we did some hiking there. Above is David at the top of the bluff we climbed.
Decorah is famous for Luther College. Here college student David stands by the bell tower reading the college newspaper. Funny?!
We ate at lots of great restaurants thanks to recommendations of my new friend Bethany. My favorite part of a get away is not cooking so it was fun to eat so many meals out. David here posed on the children's bench outside this Italian eatery known for it's woodfire pizza (very yummy!) While in Decorah we also saw Couple's retreat. Very funny movie and appropriate since it was about couples reconnecting and making their marriages better. They went to Boro Boro (warm and tropical). We'll keep that in mind for next time.
By the way the kids had a great time with Grandpa and Grandma and kitty Jasmine.
