Weekend in Decorah

This past weekend David and I headed to Decorah, Iowa for a get-away (leaving the kids in Rochester with Grandpa and Grandma). This is the 1st time we have done this so we were both excited about it. Why Decorah you ask? No particular reason. We found it after realizing Lansboro was full and wanted to go somewhere to look at fall colors, hike and shop at antique/quaint shops. We found all of this in this cute little town. Other than being a bit chilly we had a wonderful weekend. This is a view from our Bed and Breakfast patio. I loved looking out at the farmlands. We had cows 20 feet from our door!

A view of the Iowa river... also from our Patio.

On the way down we stopped in Burr Oak, Iowa to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum. As many of you know I'm a big fan so like touring her houses. This museum was small but very quaint and full of details about her life for one year in Burr Oak. I keep wishing they would not have canceled that class at MSU that I planned to take on her. I would have been even more knowledgeable than the guide. My references base mostly from the show. It did renew my interest in reading some of her other works though. Thank David for finding this fun stop.

Of course you must take a picture in front of the wagon housed in the park nearby!
