This last weekend was the party to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary (actually on June 20). Jim and I had spent months planning it, and I had been working on little details for weeks. It was so much fun to throw this party for my parents and celebrate their love for each other. It was a fun weekend to reminisce over 40 years and celebrate with family and friends.
One of my biggest surprises of the weekend was finding the original flower girl dress and having it restored and Amelia wearing it. I was going to have a replica made and had been looking at fabric and patterns. I had called the mother of the flower girl (my dad's aunt) to ask some questions about the dress. She stated she had kept it for many years, but given it away awhile ago. I went ahead with my replica. On the day I bought the fabric to start on it, my Dad's aunt called and stated she had found the dress!!! She sent it right off to me. It was wonderful to see my mom's reaction and have her show it off to everyone. Amelia was a trooper and wore it for the whole party! Here she stands in front of my mom's dress (a bit yellowed over the years.)
