This weekend was our 1st annual Baird family camping trip. We headed down to Whitewater State park just outside of Rochester. There are hiking trails, a swimming beach, and bird watching/interpretive center. The weather was perfect and overall the kids did pretty well. The first night they were up till close to 11pm peeping out from the trailer. The next night Samuel crashed in my arms at 7pm (before supper) and slept till 7am Sunday morning.
David shows Amelia the ropes of a campfire. The Baird's tradition is "pies." It's two pieces of buttered bread with pie filling in between. Amelia waits patiently for hers to cool. It is so precious to see traditions like camping and outdoor appreciation being passed down to future generations. I know David has fond memories of his days of camping as a child.
